You develop unparalleled influence over others when you choose to experience their pain and social barriers, especially when they don’t deserve it. Doing so gives you a proper perspective of their experiences and galvanizes trust. It is foolish to think that we’ll have lasting influence on others without going to this length.
A Transformational not Transactional approach is key:
Transactional says I will help you because you deserve it, are responsible, will help yourself, etc.
Transformational says I will find a way to love and help you even though you don’t deserve it, are stuck, have lost hope, and refuse to do anything for yourself.
We do not disagree with the relevance of a transactional approach within the context of an overall transformational approach. We find that an initial transformational approach is the key to change.
